Jesus said, "All
authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." |

Vision 2025 |
 |
Wycliffe is keen to help the UK church fulfil
its part in the Great Commission. There are 6809 languages spoken in the
world by 6.3 billion people. At the present time approximately 3000 groups,
380 million people still do not have the Bible in their own language.
Wycliffe's vision is that "By
2025, together with partners worldwide, we aim
to see a Bible translation programme begun in all the languages that need
one." |
"2000 years after
Jesus spoke of reaching the nations there are still thousands of people
groups with little or no Christian witness. Every year millions go to a lost
eternity never having had the opportunity to hear or read the gospel of
Jesus Christ." |
|
In Focus |
 |
Wycliffe's
In Focus
programme provides a church with the opportunity to be directly involved
in the birth and/or growth of a church among one specific people group
overseas. Over time the whole UK church congregation will grow to know and
love this people group. Prayer will be at the forefront of this ministry,
and opportunities to visit the people group to see their local situation and
those working amongst them to gather information to report back to the UK
church, can result in involvement in many different ways. Many of the groups
do not have a Bible or even a single verse from the Bible in their own
language. Many of the languages are only spoken languages so linguistics,
creation of a written language and translation will be necessary. |
"Reaching the
unreached is not the responsibility of missionaries and mission agencies; it
is a duty and a joy that belongs to every Christian." |
